Overview

Our Adventure Camp Session, one-week and two-week camp sessions for D2 , D3 and D4 campers, offer an amazing choice of adventure activities. D2 campers choose between 2 options which include 3-days of on-camp adventures (backpacking, mountain biking, rock climbing, canoeing/kayaking, adventure racing, etc.) and an off-camp exploration day. D3 campers choose between 4 options which entails a 4-day off-camp adventure, including backpacking, mountain biking, rock climbing, whitewater, caving, canoeing, and the best of what western North Carolina and South Carolina has to offer. We also offer special 2-week adventures for D4 called Monk’s Ultimate Adventure, Outback Adventure and Whitewater Adventure.

5th and 6th Grade

Our one-week D2 program invites our rising 5th-6th grade campers to engage in exciting adventure activities in a controlled setting with experienced and well-trained staff. We take advantage of the unique setting of Camp Greenville and offer day trips like outdoor rock climbing, mountain biking, and hiking, all within our own 1,400 acre property and with the addition of one day trip to DuPont State Recreational Forest. Adventure campers spend nights sleeping at our rustic campsites inside a gender specific shelter or under the stars. We provide 2 different options for your camper to choose between during the registration process.

Our two-week combo session combines a week of adventure camp with a week of base camp for the camper who wants it all! If you are attending a combo week, Division 2 will be participating in their Base Camp session during the first week and Adventure Trip session their second week.

Hike, swim, mountain bike, paddle, fish, and compete in the explorer adventure race!

(Must have experience and ability to ride a bike. Bikes are provided by camp. Personal mountain bikes are allowed but must be inspected and approved by Adventure Director on opening day.)

Sunday: Check in and meet your group. Get oriented and join everyone for Opening Campfire!

Monday: Together with all the D2 Adventure campers travel to DuPont State Recreational Forest just a few miles North of Camp Greenville. Visit and hike along the beautiful forested river to Triple Falls. Cool down by jumping in at Hooker falls for a refreshing swim. Don’t forget to bring your camera for this adventure!

Tuesday: Spend the day mountain biking through the trails of Camp Greenville! Feel the rush of moving through bumpy terrain, the challenge of climbing tough hills, and the excitement of the wind on your face on the way down. Improve riding ability and technical skill, as well as learn safety considerations of the sport.

Wednesday: Hike into YCG history by exploring some of the lesser known trails of Camp Greenville! Explorer Confederates Cave, Dan’s camp, Little Rich or others! Learn and practice Leave No Trace principles, trail etiquette, map reading skills, survival skills, plant identification, and find surprises along the way!

Thursday: Spend a day paddling and fishing in Lake Sudie. Learn and practice safe canoe, kayak, and fishing techniques! Non-swimmers welcome! Campers will learn paddling strokes, t-rescues, and more. Come prepared to get wet for this fun filled adventure!

Friday: D2 Adventure groups face off as teams working together to overcome back country challenges such as knot tying, fire building, water crossing, and more. Teams will use skills learned and practiced throughout the week to complete the ultimate Adventure Race challenge. Return to main camp and rejoin the other Adventure groups to share stories and skits before participating in Friday’s theme dinner and closing campfire!

Saturday: Rock out at YCG’s weekly Pajama Jam and end your week with the closing ceremony.

Wednesday: Campers will build confidence as they learn the basics of climbing and rappelling techniques. This adventure utilizes the natural rock cliffs on camp to develop and improve climbing skills. The top-rope climbs range from relatively easy to difficult and offer amazing mountain views from the top.

Thursday: Hike into YCG history by exploring some of the lesser known trails of Camp Greenville! Explorer Confederates Cave, Dan’s camp, Little Rich, or others! Learn and practice Leave No Trace principles, trail etiquette, map reading skills, survival skills, plant identification, and find surprises along the way!

Friday: D2 Adventure groups face off as teams working together to overcome backcountry challenges such as knot tying, fire building, water crossing, and more. Teams will use skills learned and practiced throughout the week to complete the ultimate Adventure Race challenge. Return to main camp and rejoin the other Adventure groups to share stories and skits before participating in Friday’s theme dinner and closing campfire!

Saturday: Rock out at YCG’s weekly Pajama Jam and end your week with the closing ceremony.

7th, 8th, and 9th Grade

D3 Adventure program invites rising 7th-9th grade campers to participate in a more independent experience where they choose a trip that travels off camp. Exciting options include caving, white water rafting, mountain biking, canoeing, and rock climbing. Campers will be challenged to develop new skills, make lasting friendships, and experience God’s creation under the leadership of summer camp’s professional role models. Nearby sites include Pisgah National Forest, DuPont State Recreational Forest, Devil’s Fork State Park, and the Smoky Mountains. The D3 program offers an exceptional opportunity for campers to strengthen their sense of self through a range of adventure activities. Your hard work will be well worth the rewards of this unique program!

Our two-week combo session combines a week of adventure camp with a week of base camp for the camper who wants it all! If you are attending a combo week, Division 3 will be participating in their Adventure Trip session during the the first week and Base Camp session the second.

Canoe, hike, and swim! Adventure trip to Lake Jocassee and Table Rock State Park in South Carolina!

(Campers need to be comfortable in water, but not necessarily expert swimmers.)

Sunday: Check in and meet your group. Get oriented and join everyone for Opening Campfire!

Monday: Spend your first full day at camp, joining Base camp for beach party, teambuilding, chapel, cookout, and Color Wars. Take advantage of this day spent bonding with your adventure group and preparing for your off-camp experience.

Tuesday-Friday: Travel to Devil’s Fork State Park to canoe on Lake Jocassee, and explore Table Rock State Park in SC. Paddle around the beautiful lake finding coves, waterfalls, swimming holes, and spend a couple of nights camped out on a primitive Island campground. Explore Table Rock State Park by enjoying the he beautiful views and playing in Pinnacle Lake.

Friday: Return to camp and rejoin the other Adventure groups to share stories and skits before participating in theme dinner and closing campfire!

Saturday: Don’t miss YCG Pajama Jam and close out your week with the closing ceremony.

10th, 11th, and 12th Grade

D4 Adventure program invites rising 10th grade campers to participate in a more intense experience where they choose a trip that travels off camp to some of the region’s most exquisite areas. There are 3 trip options that are specifically designed for those who want to grow in their camping skills by participating in a variety of one and two week options. Campers will be challenged to develop new skills, make lasting friendships, and experience God’s creation under the leadership of summer camp’s professional role models. These trips will take place in NC, SC and TN as they go rafting, canoeing, kayaking, caving, hiking and swimming. The D4 program offers an exceptional opportunity for campers to strengthen their sense of self through a range of adventure activities. Be sure to check our trip options carefully and sign up for the trip best suited to you.

Raft, hike, and swim! Adventure trip to the Nantahala River and Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina!

(Campers need to be comfortable in water, but not necessarily expert swimmers.)

Sunday: Check in and meet your group. Get oriented and join everyone for Opening Campfire!

Monday: Spend your first full day at camp, joining Base camp for beach party, teambuilding, chapel, cookout, and Color Wars. Take advantage of this day spent bonding with your adventure group and preparing for your off-camp experience.

Tuesday-Friday: Travel to the Nantahala Outdoor Center in Bryson City NC and spend a day on the Nantahala River rapids in single ducky’s with well-trained staff and lifeguards. Spend a second day on the water in a guided group raft on the Pigeon River. Explore popular Pisgah Forest and Blue Ridge Parkway mountains, views, swimming holes, and waterfalls!

Friday: Return to camp and rejoin the other Adventure groups to share stories and skits before participating in theme dinner and closing campfire!

Saturday: Don’t miss YCG Pajama Jam and close out your week with the closing ceremony.  

Cave, hike, and swim! Adventure trip to the Smoky Mountains and Lost Sea Cave in Tennessee!     

(Cave dirt WILL stain clothing, backpacks, shoes, etc. so pack accordingly)

Sunday: Check in and meet your group. Get oriented and join everyone for Opening Campfire!

Monday: Spend your first full day at camp, joining Base camp for beach party, teambuilding, chapel, cookout, and Color Wars. Take advantage of this day spent bonding with your adventure group and preparing for your off-camp experience.

Tuesday-Friday: Travel to the Lost Sea Cave in Sweetwater TN for an overnight tour by a professional cave-guide, do some crawls, learn about the geology and history of the cave, take a boat tour on the underground lake, and spend the night in the cave! Explore some well-known peaks of the Cherokee and Smoky Mountains and swim in cold mountain streams and pristine waterfalls!

Friday: Return to camp and rejoin the other Adventure groups to share stories and skits before participating in theme dinner and closing campfire!

Saturday: Don’t miss YCG Pajama Jam and close out your week with the closing ceremony.

Mt. bike, climb, hike, and swim! Adventure trip to DuPont State Recreational Forest, Gilbert’s Rock, and Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina!

(Must have experience and ability to ride a bike. Bikes are provided by camp. Personal mountain bikes are allowed but must be inspected and approved by Adventure Director on opening day.)

Tuesday-Friday: Test your climbing skills at camp’s outdoor climb site before traveling to Gilbert’s Rock in Hendersonville where you will hike into a secluded climbing site and practice safe climbing and rappelling techniques and enjoy views from the top of the mountain!  Explore DuPont State Recreational Forest on your mountain bike, learning and progressing your skills along the way! This adventure is designed for the camper who seeks adrenaline and thrill in a physical challenge!

Friday: Return to camp and rejoin the other Adventure groups to share stories and skits before participating in theme dinner and closing campfire!

Saturday: Don’t miss YCG Pajama Jam and close out your week with the closing ceremony.

1 Week Program

June 10-16, 2018

July 8-14, 2018

July 29- Aug 4, 2018

Whether you are a seasoned paddler or just an inquisitive water sport enthusiast, our Whitewater Adventure program will give you the appreciation and skills to make waves this summer! This week-long session is a progressive introduction to paddling sports. Campers are guided by experienced staff as they improve their skills from flat water canoeing and kayaking to a gentle river to exciting whitewater. Campers will have 3 separate raft experiences through the NOC which will take them from the Nantahala River, to the French Broad River, to the Chattooga River to test the waters in both individual and group rafting with supervision from highly trained camp staff and professional guides. While experiencing some of Carolinas’ most beautiful places, campers will come away with hands-on skills and well-rounded perspectives on water safety. This program is sure to make a splash!

2 Week Program

June 17-30, 2018

The Monk’s Ultimate Adventure offers a buffet of fun for the adventurous camper who wants to travel! This trip builds a community of friends who embark on a two-week road trip under the supervision of our most experienced staff who are committed to providing a positive experience for campers during this crucial stage of growth. This adventure is full of exciting events as you make your way through beautiful areas of NC, SC, and TN. Have opportunities to hike mountains, swim in the ocean, tour lighthouses, ride ferries, explore museums, and more! You will camp along the way and make friends and memories that will last far beyond the duration of the trip!

New and Improved!

Outback Adventure is a new design of the old traditional Outback program with a new offsite adventure spin. This two-week adventure program is designed to incorporate all the D3 adventure trips and the unique aspects of the Outback program into an impactful two week session. Participants will stay in our Outback wilderness village and take trips to nearby areas to participate in the following activities: Whitewater Rafting, Rock Climbing, Canoeing the French Broad River, Mtn Biking, Solo Experiences, Wilderness Survival and Service Projects. Our well trained staff will use the two weeks to build community, and growing future outdoor leaders while teaching valuable skills and having a lot of fun along the way.
