Cory Harrison, Executive Director

A Year of Unprecedented Success

As we reflect on the past year at YMCA Camp Greenville, it is with immense pride that we share the milestones and achievements that have marked 2023 as a year of extraordinary success and growth.

Summer Camp Triumphs

The heart of Camp Greenville has always been its summer camp, and this year we reached new heights. Across 8 weeks, we welcomed 2511 campers, each embarking on a journey of self-discovery, friendship, and adventure. The laughter, stories, and memories created during these weeks have left an indelible mark on the lives of these young individuals.

Nurturing Future Leaders

Our commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders was evident in our Leadership Development Program. This year, we were thrilled to have 192 teens participate in this transformative experience, each leaving with enhanced skills, confidence, and a sense of responsibility towards their communities.

Record-Breaking Events and Visitors

Our journey through 2023 was marked by an astonishing number of events and visitors. We hosted 514 diverse events, each one contributing to the vibrant tapestry of experiences that define Camp Greenville. The highlight among these was the Fred Symmes "Pretty Place" Chapel, a beacon of serenity and beauty, which attracted over 200,000 visitors. This astounding figure not only underscores the chapel's allure but also its significance as a landmark within our community.

Family Camp: A Resounding Success

In 2023, family bonds were strengthened at Camp Greenville, as 757 individuals participated in our family camp. These sessions provided a unique opportunity for families to connect, engage in fun activities, and create lasting memories in the natural beauty of our campgrounds.

Adventure Guides: Fostering Connections

The Adventure Guides program, a cornerstone of our camp, saw remarkable participation with 423 dads and their children enrolled. This program, focusing on dads and daughters and dads and sons, played a crucial role in fostering deeper connections and creating shared experiences that will be cherished for a lifetime.

Significant Enhancements and Upgrades

The year also marked a significant phase of improvements and upgrades:

  • The Airnasium's $300,000 Remodel: Thanks to the generous donation from the RAMAK Foundation, our Airnasium underwent a major transformation, enhancing its functionality and aesthetic appeal.

  • Packout Sites Upfitting: The YMCA of Greenville Foundation's contribution enabled us to upgrade our packout sites, significantly improving the camping experience for our visitors.

  • New Equipment at Lake Sudie Waterfront: Courtesy of a donation from Weekes Construction, we added exciting new inflatable equipment at the Lake Sudie Waterfront, adding more fun and adventure for our campers.

Looking Ahead

As we closed the chapter on a truly incredible year, we look forward to the future with enthusiasm and a commitment to continue providing exceptional experiences at Camp Greenville. Our achievements in 2023 are not just milestones but stepping stones to even greater success. We are immensely grateful to our community, donors, staff, and every individual who has been a part of this remarkable journey.
