PACC: Health and Wellness at Camp!
At Camp Greenville, adventure is non-stop—but so is our commitment to keeping campers healthy and thriving! For over 13 years, Registered Nurse Stephanie Laudisio has been leading the charge at the Health Hut, where a team of two dedicated nurses and our Health Hut Coordinator are available 24/7 to provide top-notch care. From first aid and medication management to offering a listening ear, the Health Hut is a safe and welcoming space where campers and staff know they’re in good hands.
Medication Made Easy & Safe
On check-in day, you’ll stop by the Health Hut to drop off all medications with our nursing team. For campers who take daily medications, detailed instructions and information for how to prepare your meds will be available prior to your camp session. Stay tuned!
Nurses distribute medications at designated times, typically during meals at the dining hall for convenience. If campers need nighttime meds, they’ll either visit the Health Hut, or nurses will bring medications to a central location after evening programs. For safety reasons, campers, LDPs, and staff cannot keep medications of any kind in their cabins.
Also, our nurses can only administer oral and topical medications. If your camper requires injections or rectal medications, please contact Katy Harvill via email to discuss your medication needs.
Getting Ready for a Healthy Summer
As summer gets closer, parents can access the Parent Portal, where they’ll need to complete their camper’s required forms. One of the most important is the Health History Form, which provides our medical team with crucial insights into your camper’s health. Even small details can make a big difference, so please be as thorough as possible—especially when noting allergies, past illnesses, or other medical considerations.
Additionally, parents should know that the “Information for Cabin Leader” form will go directly to the camper’s cabin leader, while the Health History Form will be accessible only to the nursing team. To ensure both groups are fully prepared to support your camper, we encourage parents to duplicate important health-related details on both forms.
In the weeks leading up to camp, start prepping your camper for an active, adventure-filled experience! Encourage hydration and healthy eating habits—campers will be playing hard outdoors and need to fuel up with plenty of water and nutritious foods to keep up with all the fun.
Camper Quest!
By completing 2 out of 3 Quests in February, campers can earn a special friendship bracelet!
Quest: Drink More Water!
Find a water bottle you love—one that’s easy to carry (handles or a carabiner clip are great!) and not too heavy when filled. Then, practice drinking two full bottles of water daily for at least three days. Start in the morning, sip throughout the day, and try not to drink too close to bedtime!
You can even use our HYDRATION TRACKER to keep up with how close you are to your goal!
Communication from the Health Hut
Parents, don’t worry if you don’t hear from us right away! Our nurses follow strict health protocols and will only call if necessary. Campers are here to explore, play, and enjoy the outdoors, which means that the occasional scrape, bug bite, or minor bump is all part of the adventure. Rest assured, our team is always monitoring campers’ well-being, and we’ll reach out if a situation requires extra attention or ongoing care.
A Message of Care & Support
The Health Hut team is here for you! Nurse Stephanie and her staff love building trust with campers and their families to create a safe and supportive camp environment. Parents are welcome to visit the Health Hut during Sunday check-in to meet the team and see where their campers will receive care if needed.
We’re grateful for our incredible nurses and the vital role they play in making Camp Greenville a safe, happy, and healthy place for all. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to Katy Harvill via email.
