April is Autism Awareness Month

At YMCA Camp Greenville, we’re committed to providing opportunities for ALL to grow, learn and thrive. Did you know we offer spring and fall family camp weekends for families with members on the Autism Spectrum? Our “Spectrum Family Camp” provides structured and safe opportunities for families to bounce, splash, sing, hike, play, cartwheel, and explore together.

YMCA Camp Greenville staff are always nearby to ensure camper safety in the outdoors and to provide a helping hand for parents, while kids and adults alike enjoy the added independence and exploration that comes with spending the weekend away from home in the mountains.

Parents and caregivers get a break from meal prep and washing dishes, as our Camp Greenville kitchen staff take care of everything for the weekend. Plus, our activities staff setup and cleanup for a wide variety of fun, hands-on activity options for the whole family.

During these two weekends at camp, our Spectrum family campers are also joined by our Stargazers family campers: families including someone with Down Syndrome. This makes for a truly action-packed weekend for neurodiverse individuals and their families, while providing plenty of flexibility and relaxation time to balance sensory needs.
