Summer Prep: Mail and Communications

Camp Greenville offers several options for one-way communication: parents can send communications to their campers, but campers will not have an opportunity to reply (they’re too busy having fun!!).

Mail and Packages:

You may drop off envelopes, cards, letters, and small packages during the check-in process, to be delivered to your camper at any point during the week.

Each item should be clearly labeled with your camper’s name, cabin name (which will be emailed to you Wednesday of the week prior), and what day of the week it should be delivered.

Mail and packages are typically delivered at dinner (evening meal) in the dining hall.

If any food items are included, please choose packaged items that won’t spoil or attract pests; do not include anything with peanut ingredients; and consider including a treat for the whole cabin.

If you ordered a personalized water bottle or Crazy Creek Camp Chair from our camp store, it will be delivered to your camper on their first day of camp.

Letters (previously known as “Bunk Notes”):

You also have the option to send Letters, which are electronic mail sent from you (or other family members) via our Campanion App for parents. Click here for more info about downloading the app and creating your account.

Each morning at 10am, we will print all the Letters we have received in the past 24 hours, and they will be delivered to campers at lunchtime.

You may send Letters from noon on Sunday until 10am on Friday. Friday lunchtime will be the last Bunk Notes distribution.

Campanion App for Parents:

Download the Campanion App, set up your account, and turn on push notifications to receive updates from camp while your camper is here with us. The app will be our primary method of communication with you, as a group of parents. Check the “Stream” tab for the latest news. You’ll see updates that we’ve sent to all parents, as well as updates that are specifically for your camper’s session. Click here for details about setting up the app.

Camp Office:

If someone in the Camp Office needs to reach you individually, we will contact you by phone, text, and/or email.

If you need to contact the Camp Office at any point during your camper’s session, please contact Stacie Simpson, Director of Camp Communications. She is typically available from 8am-8pm daily via phone/email at 864-432-1085 or via email: click here. Please indicate that your camper is currently at camp, which will help to prioritize your response time.

Thank you, in advance, for your patience in getting a response to email or if you need to leave a voicemail. Please do not call multiple staff members, as most are working outdoors around camp and not in the office. Stacie will be your main point of contact during your camper’s time at camp.

Notes about Traditional Mail:

You may send traditional mail to your camper, and they may write letters home as well. However, it’s important to know that, due to our remote location, it’s very likely mail may not arrive at its destination until after your camper is home at the end of the week.

If you would like to send traditional mail TO camp, we recommend sending it the week prior and labeling it with your camper’s Session number so we can save it for their arrival. Our mailing address is:
YMCA Camp Greenville
Attn: [Camper’s Full Name], Session [#]
4399 YMCA Camp Rd
Cleveland, SC 29635

If your camper would like to send traditional mail FROM camp, we recommend sending them with pre-addressed, stamped envelopes and writing supplies. Once their letter is ready to send, they should ask their cabin leader for assistance in sending it out.
