Summer Prep: Checkin + Checkout
Opening Day / Check-in
Every session begins on a Sunday at the entrance to camp. The designated time for check-in is between 2:30 and 4:00pm. The gates will not be opened prior to 2:30pm.
There will be a long car line when you arrive.
Staff will come through the car line to retrieve any mail you would like to drop off for your camper.
At the front, you will be marked on the roster and able to review your cabin assignment.
You will then receive a card that indicates your cabin area color.
Proceed through the gates and follow signs and staff to your cabin area.
Park at the cabin area and get out of your car but can not leave the vicinity of your car.
Campers will receive their health check at the car and if everything is clear staff will accompany them to the cabin.
If you would like a slower check in process, staff will guide you where you can park to walk to the cabin. You will take your luggage with you and then may help your camper move in.
Please keep your cabin card for check out.
If your camper has medication you will be guided to a parking area where you may get out to drop off medication with the nurses (MUST be in original labeled container).
There is a restroom for parents at the adventure center which is at the END of check in before you depart camp.
Early or late check-in will not be allowed. Arriving during the designated check in time will be essential in helping your camper have a smooth transition into the camp routine.
Closing Day / Check-out
Every session ends on a Saturday at 9:00am and check out will begin at the camp entrance.
There will be a long car line when you arrive.
At the front of the line staff will make sure you have the cabin card from check in or provide you with a new one.
You will drive to that cabin area for pick up and you may get out of your vehicle.
A staff member will call for your camper and bring them and their luggage to your car.
You may then drive to pick up any medication or use the restroom at the adventure center.
Once your camper is checked out and in your supervision you may then move your car to a parking area where you can then come in to our camp store or walk around property for a short time.
Early or late check out on Saturdays will not be allowed.
Campers may be checked out by either parent/guardian listed on their registration profile, as well as any adults listed as emergency contacts on the camper’s health history form. If another adult will be picking up a camper, the parent/guardian must send an email to the camp office, indicating who is authorized.
Transportation
For out of state or International campers, transportation can only be provided to/from Greenville/Spartanburg (GSP) and Asheville Regional airport (AVL) for a $50 fee each way. Details must be added under Forms/Documents within the Parent Portal at least 2 weeks prior to arriving at camp. If your child is flying as an unaccompanied minor, all fees must be paid to the airline prior to your child's pick up date/time AND your child's departure date/time. All luggage fees must be paid prior to arrival/departure.
A YMCA Camp Greenville employee will pick up or drop off your child at the airport in a camp owned vehicle. They will be wearing a staff shirt as well as name tag. After arriving to camp, this staff member will ensure your camper is properly checked in to the program.
In order to notify the airline, one of our directors will contact you approximately 5 days ahead of the scheduled travel to share the name and contact information the staff member picking up your camper. If you have not received notification, please call 864-432-1085 to inquire.
Late Arrival or Early Departure
We do not allow early or late check in or check out.
We’ve specifically designed the start and end of the week to support smooth transitions into camp and from camp back into home life.
If your camper cannot arrive/depart during the scheduled times, our first choice is to transfer your camper to another session when they can fully participate in the program. Please reach out to our office to reschedule.
If arriving/departing outside the scheduled times is unavoidable due to a family emergency, please contact our office for approval. Early/late arrivals/departures are extremely disruptive to the camp schedule and experience, but exceptions can be made in cases of emergency.
Any arrivals/departures (due to unavoidable family emergency) outside the scheduled times will result in a $150 fee, charged to your account; and your camper will lose their "returning" status for next summer, limiting your registration opening to be with new campers in Phase 3, rather than with returning campers in Phase 1.
There is no opportunity to visit your camper during their session.
If a camper is checked out from camp, they may not return. The only exception is for seeking medical care; in which case the departure will be arranged with the camp office, and a doctor’s note will be required to return to camp.
