May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Mental health is how we think, feel, and act and it is an important part of our overall health and social/emotional well-being.

Camp Greenville donations contributed $250,000 of the $1,331,482 raised for the YMCA of Greenville Annual Campaign. We are so grateful for the many who donated to Camp Greenville.

As the temperature warms up our campers will want to cool off at our waterfront. We have numerous water activities for our campers to enjoy while at camp. There are rules and water safety guidelines that we follow to ensure the safety of our campers.

Global Youth Service Day (April 28-30) is the longest-running annual youth participation event in the world. It encourages youth, 5-25 to find meaning and purpose by volunteering and working together for the common good.

The Adventure Guides concluded the 2022-2023 Adventure Guides season with a fun adventure packed weekend!

Our campers have plenty of opportunities to explore the outdoors in whatever way suites them best. Whether it be spending the night at one of our pack out sites or hiking to Rainbow Falls, we have numerous opportunities all summer long for our campers to enjoy the outdoors.

This week we have been highlighting some of our volunteers that give their time and talents to Camp Greenville to celebrate National Volunteer Week.

In preparation for our upcoming celebration of Global Youth Service Day we are searching for stories from our campers and LDPs.

YMCA Camp Greenville staff, board members, volunteers, friends of camp, and thousands of online viewers enjoyed our sunrise service on Easter morning. Cory Harrison, our Executive Director at Camp Greenville, gave the Resurrection Sunday message at Pretty Place Chapel as the sun rose over the hills Easter morning.

Our Director of Leadership Programs, De-Quan “DQ” Williams, is one of 25 YMCA leaders nominated and accepted into the Emerging Global Leaders Institute (EGLI). This cohort-based experience encourages emerging YMCA leaders to develop the skills to enhance the YMCA’s ability to positively impact our increasingly diverse communities.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and Camp Greenville is honored to have become accredited last fall with Praesidium, a leading organization committed to helping other organizations prevent and protect against child abuse. The YMCA of Greenville is one of 10 Y’s nationwide and Camp Greenville is one of 6 Y resident camps nationwide to achieve this standard of accreditation.

Saturday, April 1 started off with high winds and rain but that didn’t stop our 34 volunteers, which included camp families, board members, summer staff, and LDPs, from rolling up their sleeves and getting to work. Our volunteers spent the day prepping our camp for upcoming events and summer camp.

De-Quan Williams, our Director of Leadership Programs, visited the University of Georgia last week and was able to catch up with two of our summer staff members, Alyssa G (left) and Jenna M (right).
